Intramuscular myxomas are rare, benign mesenchymal tumors. Tumor location in the forearm is very rare among all the intramuscular myxomas. To the best of our knowledge, there were two cases of supinator intramuscular myxoma reported in the literature, and we intend to report the third case of supinator myxoma with encasement of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN).

Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome is a compressive neuropathy of the posterior interosseous nerve which innervates the extensor compartment of the forearm. It usually has an insidious onset, often presenting with weakness in finger and thumb extension.

Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome usually develops spontaneously and is caused by compression injuries to the upper extremity, mostly in the arcade of  Posterior interosseous syndrom (Radial Tunnel Syndrome). 2009-11-06 · The feasibility of transferring supinator branches to the posterior interosseous nerve has been documented in a previous anatomical study. In this paper, the authors report the clinical results of supinator motor nerve transfer to the posterior interosseous nerve in 4 patients with a C7–T1 root lesion. Posterior Interosseus Nerve (PIN) Syndrome is a compressive neuropathy of the posterior interosseous nerve, a branch of the radial nerve. The causes i posterior region of the median nerve and in 21 limbs, of the posterolateral fascicles. In 41 limbs, the anterior interosseous nerve positioned between the humeral and ulnar head of the pronator teres muscle. In two limbs, anterior interosseous nerve duplication was observed.

Axonotmesis of the posterior interosseous nerve

It is the continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve, after this has crossed the supinator muscle. It is considerably diminished in size compared to the deep branch of the radial nerve. The nerve fibers originate from cervical segments C7 and C8. The posterior interosseous nerve, also known as the dorsal interosseous nerve, is the continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve after it penetrates the supinator muscle. It carries fibers from the C7 and C8 spinal nerves, and supplies the majority of the muscles in the posterior compartment of the forearm. The posterior interosseous nerve is a branch of the radial nerve, which comes off the posterior cord of the brachial plexus. The radial nerve, with nerve roots C5 to T1, travels down the arm and divides into superficial and deep branches in the proximal forearm. A complete posterior interosseous nerve palsy resulted from axonotmesis caused by pressure from a ganglion cyst.

Se hela listan på radiopaedia.org Axonotmesis mainly follows a stretch injury. These stretch injuries can either dislocate joints or fracture a limb, due to which peripheral nerves are severed. If the sharp pain from the exposed axon of the nerve is not observed, one can identify a nerve injury from abnormal sensations in their limb. Looking for interosseous nerve of forearm, posterior? Posterior interosseous nerve entrapment may occur because of a prominent radial recurrent artery (RRA), medial edge of extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB), and proximal edge of the supinator muscle (SP; arcade of Frohse). RN indicates radial nerve; and SRN, superficial branch of radial nerve. Posterior Interosseous Nerve (PIN) Syndrome is a pathology that involves pain and/or motor weakness as a result of nerve compression.
