The Girivalam is around 14 Kms and it takes roughly 4 hours at an average pace. Better you start around 4.30 AM and complete by 8.30 AM, including darshan of Lord Arunachaleshwar. There is no fear absolutely as many devotees would be walking around the same time. You make your own pace in walking. Start from Agni Lingam and end there after darshan.
